Claude-User

User-initiated fetch for Claude; disabling it may reduce visibility in user-directed search.

Should you block it?

Safe to allow

Claude-User supports Claude users: when someone asks Claude a question, it may access a site with this agent. Anthropic states that disabling it prevents retrieval in response to a user query, which may reduce your site's visibility in user-directed web search.

It is not used to train models, and it is separate from Claude-SearchBot (indexing) and ClaudeBot (training).

How to allow it in robots.txt

User-agent: Claude-User
Allow: /

How to block it

User-agent: Claude-User
Disallow: /

Anthropic states robots.txt may not apply to this user-triggered fetch, so a Disallow here is not a guarantee of blocked access.
